“The Whispering Forest: Ruru’s Halloween Secret”
✨ Ruru’s Lantern: A Kiwi Halloween Story of Light and Courage
This Halloween, our tamariki at Sugartree Lane Preschool are celebrating in true Aotearoa style, with imagination, laughter, and a touch of forest magic. Inspired by the ruru (morepork) and the glow of the moon, this gentle story reminds us that even the darkest nights can shine bright when filled with friendship, courage, and fun.
Join us as the tamariki explore the wonder of light and shadow, dress up in playful costumes, and bring our playground to life under the stars.
Growing Brains Don’t Need Pressure… They Need Presence

A Fresh Start for Our Huhu Room
✨ At Sugartree Lane Preschool, we’ve given our Huhu Room a fresh new look with natural, eco-friendly paint and calming colours. This is just the first step, soon we’ll be adding soft furnishings, plants, lighting, and new resources to create an even warmer, more inspiring space for our tamariki. Every change reflects our commitment to high-quality childcare in Auckland City, where the environment itself supports children’s wellbeing, learning, and sense of belonging. 🌱
Giving Back at Sugartree Lane
At Sugartree Lane, kindness is one of our core values. This year we’ve committed to supporting Starship Children’s Hospital with a monthly donation and contributed to the Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day. These causes mean a lot to us, and giving back is one way we can show our tamariki that small acts of generosity make a big difference.
